Tibetan Monastery

Namdroling Monastery in Kushalnagar is an important Buddhist pilgrimage and study centre in India. It is the first place to visit on your 3 days Coorg cab hire package. Built in 1961, the monastery provided shelter to refugees from Tibet. The main attractions of the temple are the gold plated statues of Buddha and his disciples, the massive red doors, artistic murals and prayer chanting rituals.

Nisargadhama Forest Park

Nisargadhama is a popular picnic spot amongst tourists. This river island is known for its bamboo tickets and sandalwood and teak trees. Tourists love to visit the deer park, orchidarium and children’s park. We recommend going for an elephant ride, boating or simply taking a stroll on one of the hanging bridges!

Dubare Elephant Camp

Dubare Elephant Camp is an excellent place to learn about the conservation of elephants. Tourists can bathe, feed and pet elephants by paying a modest fee. Children usually love visiting the camp. Adults can partake in river rafting, nature walks and bird watching at the camp.

White Water River Rafting

The most famous destination for river rafting in Coorg is through the Barapole river. The 90-minute rafting experience is offered to tourists every day from 9 AM to 3 PM. Even amateurs can participate since experts provide on-the-spot training. The beginners’ rafting distance is 4 KMS.

Talacauvery

Start your day two with Talacauvery. It is amongst the most spiritually important destinations in Coorg. The birthplace of the Cauvery river, Talacauvery has several temples nearby. Shri Bhagamandala Temple and Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple witness a steady stream of devotees throughout the year. The best time to visit Talacauvery is during the holy festival of Tula Sakarmana.

Triveni Sangam

Triveni Sangam is the holy confluence of Cauvery, Kannike and Subhajyoti rivers. The Sangam is of great importance to devotees who take a dip here on important occasions. The temples on the banks of the rivers also attract devotees.

Raja’s Seat

Raja’s Seat is one of the most visited gardens in Coorg. Surrounded by manicured gardens, flowering plants and lush greenery, tourists visit Raja’s Seat to enjoy sunsets and panoramic views of Coorg. Children can also enjoy a joyous ride on the toy train.

Madikeri fort

Last place to visit on day two is Madikeri Fort. It is synonymous to the grand history of Madikeri. Built by Mudduraja in the 16th century and rebuilt into a modern granite structure by Tipu Sultan in 1820, Madikeri Fort is a must visit for every history and architecture enthusiast. The must visit spots within the fort are the public library, district prison, Madikeri Museum, clock tower, Maha Kote Ganesha Temple and the life-size statues of elephants.

Lingaraja II constructed Omkareshwara Temple in 1820. The temple reflects the unique combination of Islamic and Gothic styles of architecture. The mantapa, wall paintings, Shiva linga and the compound of the temple are splendid. The fish tank of the temple is home to several fishes and turtles which are an attraction for children.

Abbey Falls

Abbey Falls is a 70 feet tall cascade of crystal clear, cool water. Tourists love to hike the short distance to the waterfall that takes them through the coffee groves and spice plantations. The hurling water is a treat to sore eyes and must not be missed out on!

Harangi Dam

Harangi Dam is a small dam located at Hadgur village near Madikeri. The dam attracts crowds during monsoon seasons when the gates are open and the water flows freely. The backwaters of the dam flow through several small islands, bamboo thickets and grasslands. The Chamundeshwari Temple, the public garden and the statue of Goddess Cauvery are located in a close perimeter to the dam and is another must-visit spot.
